K-MUSIC PLAYLIST No. 8
By Hannah Elliott
Amid political and general fatigue, this playlist leans into quiet resilience. These Korean indie tracks—rooted in ambient folk, lo-fi pop, and experimentation—offer space to reflect, but also to reset. It’s escapism and recovery. Song So-hee, known for her background in pansori, brings a haunting weight to “Not a Dream,” where she sings: “오 덜려온 나의 저 길을 바라봐” (oh, look at the road I’ve run to reach”). As winter gives way to spring, these songs carry that shift: subtle, maybe slow, but undeniable. HYUKOH, Mid-Air Thief, Jang Myung Sun, and others trace the soft arc from survival to renewal. It’s music for thawing out… watching the news and still going outside. For staying sensitive in a world where we may prefer detachment.
