LETTER FROM THE EDITOR - VOL. 9
KCCNYC Monthly - Feb. 2025
By Eun Byoul Oh
I think I am finally used to typing or writing 2025, instead of 2024 for the new year. I hope you, our readers, are feeling this way too.
The year is certainly starting with a lot of changes in the world, in Korea, and the U.S. There is progress and continued upheaval in the impeachment process of the Korean President. It seems highly likely that Korea will hold a presidential election this year. However, we will stay tuned until the whole process is over, as many pieces of the truth behind the martial law of December 3, 2024 are getting revealed through the impeachment trial.
The changing foreign policy of the U.S. will impact Korea in many ways. Although the consequences of the changes in the U.S. are yet to be clear, our team will continue to watch vigilantly.

On another note, the U.S.’s changing immigration policies are spreading their impact in many different immigrant communities, and the Korean community also feels the magnitude of this ongoing crisis. About 150,000 Korean immigrants may face removal from the U.S. and out of the 150,000, about 20,000 are Korean adoptees who never got to naturalize when their adoptive U.S. parents adopted them. The KCCNYC community will continue to stand with the Korean-American community and the adoptee population.
This volume of the KCCNYC monthly includes various topics, with Valentine’s Day themed corners. Despite the world facing many challenges, our team wanted to remind us of the love amongst our community and the bond we share. As our new semester begins soon, we ask our readers to continue their support for our program, and stand with us in solidarity as we try our best to create a diverse and colorful community that welcomes everybody.
With Love and peace,
Eun Byoul Oh
